Pop-Up Market Fort Worth Recap
I'd like to thank all who attended August's Pop-Up Market on Saturday. Despite the heat, the new hours provided relief while setting up and selling from my handmade jewelry booth. I was fortunate to get a tent site that backed up to a tree for a little shade this month. The live music was great, and although we didn't have any Thriller zombies in attendance this month, I was surprised to see two unlikely guests! I had to do a double take, as I thought they were large dogs at first! Seeing them took me back to carefree summer days spent on my grandparents farm in Pennsylvania, where they had several goats.
We had some new vendors this month, as well as regulars. I was honored to enjoy some repeat business, when a customer I met at the spring Arts Goggle came looking for a particular item; which she purchased, along with some other pieces. As much as I enjoy selling on Etsy and Artfire from the comfort of home, nothing can compare to seeing someone fall in love with your creation enough to make it their own. When people buy my jewelry in person, I also have the opportunity to help them try things on and find out what exactly they are looking for. If I don't have it, I offer to create it for them.
My daughter, Jessica is now 4 months, and enjoys being outside meeting people. She's definitely a conversation starter! Another attention getter is my collection of American landscape photographs that I've made into greeting cards. The Cape Cod images always seem to draw people in, but I've met war veterans who enjoy my scenes of the Vietnam War Memorial wall and local WWII planes. As an Army veteran myself, I love to talk with them. My Pop-Up neighbor this month, MoonbowMetalArt (on Etsy)who specializes in beautiful metal artwork of sea creatures, recognized my Portland area photos and we enjoyed conversation about the gorgeous scenery there. I have my eye on his whale art...I'm going to have it hanging on my wall one day.
I may not be at the market next month...but I will post an update, and some new projects between now and then.
